LUCA ROGNONI'S WEBPAGES
EHNDUO
EHNDUO is formed by EHN (Luca Rognoni) and DUO (Giulio Pirondini), long time friends and mates in many musical and creative experiences. They are nothing but the core version of EHN Productions, featuring "The artist formerly known as Aduken and now known as Shoryuken" (the London-based actor Federico Zanni) as its most prestigious member. In the lates 90's, the three artists were the promoters of the humorous/cultural band Le Maniglie dell'Amore (Love Handles) (see old picture of EHN together with the Italian top singer Elio from the band Elio e le Storie Tese).
In 2007 the EHNDUO project is born: the starting idea is to dig the Web to find lost treasures of the Italian pop music, long forgotten songs to be revived and pushed back on their righteous shiny stage. Their medium is the production and the diffusion of videoclips, based on the hits to be rescued. Quality lipsync and cool costumes are involved as well. Everything begins with "I am happy", introducing a variety of features, which will soon become standard in EHNDUO's producions, such as the Bad English presentation, the random use of stupid hats, the disturbing presence of Yorick the Skull, the unbeatable friendliness. Most EHNDUO fans consider it the best of their videos so far. EHNDUO members agree. The story goes on with "Caramella" ("Candy"), featuring the complete EHN Productions. This video is more of a narration, a bittersweet tale based on a tragic love story which is only suggested by the apparently light tone and lyrics of the original song. Class struggle and a bizarre love triangle [quotation!] intertwine until the final climax, and the protagonists cannot step out of the path to self-destruction designed for them by Fate itself. But maybe there's still a chance for redemption... In 2009, after a two-year apparent hiatus EHNDUO strikes back with "In Lei Scoppiņ l'Amore" ("Love blew up inside her"), an inspired return to the musical clip, affording dream atmospheres and a lovely countryside setting which blend smoothly with the carefree lyrics of the original song. In August 2009, EHNDUO are on an extraordinary LIVE gig which was part of the celebrations of the wedding of two dear friends, re-creating the immortal Masochism Tango by Tom Lehrer. Watch out for Easter Eggs, though... In September "Ulla Rulla" is out: it's the first video based on an original song written by EHNDUO. The clip is an artistic montage of previously unreleased footage coming from cuts from the previous videos, school trips or holiday videos and fragments of an real TV film. It surely is a very experimental work, offering a variety of possible interpretations. Worshipped by the goth supporters of the Duo, it has aroused a controversial discussion in the rest of the fan community: some accuse EHNDUO for having used only "leftovers", while others claim that this is surrealism at its highest and compare their work to Ed Wood's films. Watch it and make up you mind! Right after "Ulla Rulla", EHNDUO and EHN Productions announced a period of undefined hiatus, due to the multiplicity of the work and study endeavours that the three members are going to undertake in London/Richmond(Virginia), Milan and Edinburgh. But they are sure this is just a brief parEHNthesis. This is not the EHNd! |
